Orchid - Renanthera Hybrid

This orchid cross was made by my friend a few years back and growing in my garden. This is one of the plants from the first batch of seedlings. The parents are the well known Renanthera Storei from the Philippines and Renanthera Bella from Sabah, East Malaysia. This species was discovered a few years back. It is easy to grow and sun loving. Details of the culture can be obtained from any article on the net pertaining to orchid care for warm growing variety especially for renanthera, aranda of quater terette vandas.

Perhaps one of this days I would like to cross it with Renanthera Brokie Chandler, an old cross which is still winning at orchids show. One thing fascinate me about this variety of Brokie Chandler is the stature of the flower stalk which shoot up from the stem vertically and branch out with about 8 to 10 side sub-branches. From a far it looks like a reddish orange umbrella, a colour much favoured by the Chinese for good luck.
